Here’s What You Gotta Have and the Rules You Gotta Follow
Yeah, we’re not a big fan of them either, but much like there must be rules to maintain civilized society, there’s gotta be some basic rules and requirements to keep the wheels from falling off this event (that happens often enough even within these parameters). So study up, as these rules and requirements are non-negotiable if you want to be included on Unreal Adventure.
The Rules
- No Whining!
- Have lots of fun!
- Only one vehicle allowed per invitee, and only two people per vehicle. The starting team must attend the whole trip – no substitutions.
- We are not responsible for you during this event.
- We will use the buddy system so you are partnered with the Cronies throughout this adventure. We’re all friends and this is a group endeavor, not a competition.
- We will always try to stick together and help everyone, but with a group of this size, it will not always be practical to delay the whole group for one or two people. You will never be left alone- that’s what your buddies are for.
- Once the trip begins vehicles must be driven (not towed) on the entire Unreal Adventure. They can be towed to the starting point and home after completion of the Unreal Adventure.
- Vehicles may be towed to a repair location–the intent of the no-trailer rule is to enforce the pavement portion of Unreal Adventure.
- The group will leave as close as possible to posted times–don’t be late or you may be left behind. Also, don’t wander away during the event without informing Christian Hazel or Trent McGee or you may be left behind. Sticking together at all times helps maintain group integrity.
- Bring all your gear with you in your trail rig (sleeping bag, food, water, and so on) for any situation–don’t depend on a support vehicle or trailer along the way. You will essentially be living out of your rig so be prepared with tools, spares, and gear/supplies for primitive camping almost every night. You may also be wheeling with all of your gear on board, so pack accordingly and MAKE SURE VEHICLE CONTENTS ARE SECURED so they don’t become projectiles in the unfortunate event of a rollover.
- Participants are responsible for all of their own expenses (food, lodging, fuel, repairs, fees, and other expenses).
- No pets and no children under 18 years old.
- You are considered a representative of the Unreal Adventure event, as well as an adult, and a representative of the four-wheeling community as a whole. It is important to hold yourself to the highest standards of behavior as we are on display to the entire nation. We expect you to behave accordingly at all times.
- Alcohol consumption will not be tolerated on trails or any time you are driving. Passengers may not drink on trails. Violators will get one verbal warning; the second offense removes you from the Unreal Adventure.
- Illegal drug use will not be tolerated any time during the event. There is no warning–first offense gets you removed from Unreal Adventure
Sponsorship
This event is a sponsored program designed to entertain our audience and offer promotional value to Unreal Adventure sponsors. In order to protect the marketing value of Unreal Adventure to its sponsors, only official sponsor’s lettering and/or logos are allowed to be displayed on the participating Unreal Adventure vehicles. Your vehicle must be stripped of all lettering/logos not part of the Unreal Adventure prior to check-in. There is one exception outlined below. Sponsors may supply logos should you wish to run them, but it is not a requirement. Unreal Adventure decals will be provided for your vehicle windshield, which must be applied.
We will allow decals displaying social media handles / Youtube channel logos under the following conditions: they may be displayed only by a principle of the media outlet in question, are limited to only the vehicle operated by the participant in question, and decal sizing is no greater than 15”x15” or 225 square inches. These are subject to management approval and their decision is final.
Vehicle / Driver Requirements
There will be a tech inspection at check-in. Your vehicle will be inspected for all of the following equipment and paperwork. You will not be allowed to join Unreal Adventure if your vehicle fails any part of this inspection.
- Vehicle must be road worthy and capable of sustained highway speeds of 65 mph and fuel capacity to provide a range of at least 150 miles.
- Vehicle must be street licensed and insured. Driver must have a valid driver’s license, current registration, and current proof of insurance. Yes, we check. Have your documents with you at check-in.
- Front and rear axle locker/spool (limited slips do not suffice)
- Must be self-sufficient (bring your own spare parts, fluids, tools, food, and water)
- Front-mounted vehicle recovery winch rated 1.5-times vehicle weight and winch controller
- Winch accessory kit (tree saver, snatch block, clevis, chain, gloves)
- Rollcage (common sense rules – this is not a motorsports event but something that will securely protect occupants in the event of a rollover – subject to inspector’s discretion)
- Adequate first-aid kit per Red Cross requirements
- Seatbelts / harnesses for all occupants, always fastened before and worn at all times when vehicle is in motion
- Adequate recovery tow hooks and/or shackle/clevis attachment points front and rear
- Secure battery hold-down
- 35-inch minimum tire size and adequate fullsize spare tire
- Functional parking brake
- VHF radio system with specific UA channels 1, 2, 3 (functioning, frequencies provided upon acceptance to event)
- Fire extinguisher mounted in reach of occupants
- Snatch strap/recovery rope-without metal hooks
- Adequate jack and jack points
- Spill kit and PETT kit
- Release forms (to be provided prior to or at check-in)
